Weekly Reflections – Online Learning and Connectivism

Connectivism emphasizes that learning in today’s world is facilitated through systems, people, and technologies, rather than solely by an individual. Learning is now based on the ability to connect, navigate, and make sense of information across multiple sources of information, just like EDCI339! Connectivism changes the way we learn, and as technology continues to evolve, it is important that we learn how to adapt connectivism further so that we can have a smooth transition with incorporating technology in the future. Online learning supports connectivist principles by promoting autonomy and interaction between students. It encourages you to take action in your own learning. In this class, I reflected on how much I use connectivism when connecting with my peers, reflecting publicly (through this blog), and curating digital resources (such as sharing links and videos, and my reflection on them). The implementation of this helps strengthen my understanding and shows how learning is not linear.

I think this image is a great representation of connectivism!
